Description by the author

A sporty and ambitious cycle tour over the two highest elevations in the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park.

The Tripsdrill amusement park is not the only place where the going gets tough. With Schlierkopf and Baiselsberg, the ambitious loop through the heart of the nature park forest includes the two highest elevations of the Stromberg. With a large proportion of fine gravel paths, the route is perfect for gravel bikes. The starting point is the parking lot at Wildparadies Tripsdrill, from where the route initially climbs quite steeply up to the Stromberg ridge. Past the Wolfstein - the last wolf in Württemberg was shot here in 1847 - the route continues along the "Rennweg". As a high-level trail on the Stromberg, this section leads gently up and down to the Schlierkopf. Here, you leave the forest and enter the Kraichgau wine landscape for the first time.At Häfnerhaslach, the route crosses the Kirbach valley before tackling the ascent to the Baiselsberg in two sections. The detour to the Baiselsberg is worthwhile - from the highest point in the nature park, the view extends far across the landscape and offers beautiful views. The tour then leads back down out of the forest into the vineyards in the Kirbach valley and back up the Stromberg ridge on the other side of the valley.

From Freudental - you can also take a shortcut here if necessary - the last section leads back to the starting point through less eventful terrain.

Take time to enjoy the view at one point or another. Whenever the route leaves the Stromberg forest and dips into the vineyards, just keep an eye out.

In addition to the RadService stations, we recommend stopping off at one of the typical regional wine taverns, known here in Württemberg as Besenwirtschaft or simply Besen. As this special type of restaurant is only open for a few weeks a year, it is advisable to check the Besenkalender with current opening times before setting off.
