N1 Wein-Land-Fluss-Tour

Get to know the vine-rich Zabergäu by cycling directly along the Neckar. The tour is ideal for families, mostly "flat" and can be divided into 2 stages.

Start the 23 km northern loop at Lauffen train station. The first sights, the artwork "Hölderlin im Kreisverkehr" and the Hölderlinhaus in the Museum im Klosterhof await you in the small Neckar town. Below impressive steep slopes with gnarled old vines, along the Zaber river, the route heads towards Hausen. For history buffs, a visit to the Jupiter Giant Column is a must. In Dürrenzimmern, below the "Hörnle" panoramic forest tavern, you will come across the busy Zabergäuradweg cycle path towards Heilbronn.

In Nordhausen, the Waldenser Museum invites you to visit, and in Nordheim, the Rathauspark will surprise you with its splendid flowers and you can taste wines from all of Nordheim's wineries on the terrace of the Rathauskeller.

At Heilbronn-Klingenberg, you cycle through the "Alt-Neckar" nature reserve and cross the river. The route then takes you directly along the river and through the beautiful landscape of the Schozachtal valley via Talheim back to Lauffen a. N. The Lauffen Rathausburg castle, whose castle museum invites you to visit the 11th century, is idyllically situated on an island in the middle of the Neckar.

If you still haven't had enough, you can also take the approx. 20 km long southern circular tour. First, the route continues from Lauffen a. N. on the eastern side of the Neckar directly along the river to Neckarwestheim. On a rocky outcrop in the vineyards, a Roman estate with well-preserved foundation walls and rest areas invites you to linger. The route continues through Neckarwestheim to Liebenstein Castle. From the castle's accessible keep, you have a wonderful view over the Neckar valley and into the Zabergäu. From the castle, the route leads via Ottmarsheim to Kirchheim. From there, follow the Neckar cycle path below steep vineyards, past the boat harbor back to Lauffen a. N.
