Diverse circular tour characterized by plateaus, deep river cuts and fertile agricultural areas of the Kocher and Jagst valleys.
The Hohe Straße leads you eastwards as a kind of "ridgeway" between the Kocher and Jagst valleys. This region was already popular in Roman times due to the fertile brown soils of loamy sand with lots of loess. Back then, the Limes ran through what is now the Jagstfeld district to protect against invaders. Today, the most beautiful cycling and hiking trails criss-cross this region and invite you to linger. The route first takes you along the wide, lush fields that nestle between the Jagst and Kocher rivers. Then immerse yourself in fairytale forests and enjoy the healthy nature with all your senses. For the second half of the tour, you can either cycle along the Kocher-Jagst cycle path, always slightly downhill, towards the mouth of the Jagst in Bad Friedrichshall or continue via Lampoldshausen to Kochersteinsfeld in the middle of a small but beautiful wine-growing region in Württemberg. If you follow the river, you will know why the Romans stayed on the Kocher to bathe.
