Überlinger Picknick-Tour 7 - Urbane Gärten mit grandioser Aussicht

On this picnic walk to the hidden and idyllic gardens of the town of Überlingen, you can explore the green spaces close to the old town off the beaten track.

With a well-filled picnic backpack, this city walk takes you to the historic gardens of the town of Überlingen. From Landungsplatz - the former hub of the town - and past the imposing St. Nikolaus Minster, visitors reach the fortified Rosenobel Tower through the winding alleyways of the old town, such as Zitronengässle, which is only 80 cm wide in places. With its hidden gardens right next to the city wall, the tower and the accompanying ski jump have become an attractive gem as part of the 2021 State Garden Show. The 18-metre-high round tower also offers new perspectives of the city and the lake.

After a first taste from the picnic rucksack, the route continues to the municipal museum. During the museum's opening hours, the idyllic garden of the late medieval patrician palace can be visited free of charge. In the middle of the old town, numerous benches with wonderful views and the unique combination of art, culture and nature invite you to linger and relax.

Before the circular route takes visitors back to the lakeshore, the Menzing Gardens, inner-city allotment gardens flanked by viewing terraces and seating areas, offer a good opportunity to open your picnic rucksack again. The Kress winery in Überlingen has planted various red and white wine varieties in the Menzing Gardens so that wine can be grown here in the middle of the old town.

With light luggage, you then return to the riverside promenade and on to the starting point at the landing site.
