About the Eichberg tower into the history-rich Tennenbach valley
The circular hike begins in the heart of Emmendingen at the train station and leads to the Eichberg tower, the highest viewing tower in Germany. The next stage destination is the Emil Scheer hut, whose beautiful forest meadow with barbecue area invites you to take a break. After the ascent to the "Laber" ridge, where you can admire the old boundary stones of the Tennenbacher Klosterbann, you reach the history-rich Tennenbach valley on a narrow, rooty path that is steep in places. A plaque with an impressive view of the early Gothic chapel provides information about the once rich and famous Tennenbach monastery. The way back is along narrow, natural paths through the Binzgenwald forest.
