Rundweg Hepbacher-Leimbacher Ried

A circular tour through a nature conservation
area embedded in gentle hills with far-reaching views of the Alpine ranges. The harmonious residential landscape forms an oasis for rare animals and plants between the natural and cultivated landscape.

Passing the elevated site of the former spruce castle with far-reaching views of the lake and mountains, you pass a small chapel that was built from its stones to replace the castle chapel, which was also demolished. You leave the village and reach the legendary Drumlin Heidengestied, where the remains of a medieval fortification can still be seen. The path winds down to the reed and leads along a dirt track across open terrain past the model airfield. The far-reaching views of the Ried landscape, the Alps and the Gehrenberg are exceptional, especially on clear days. At the Hutwiesen viewpoint, there is information on the reintroduction of storks to the reed and on grazing with Heck cattle. An atmospheric section of the trail leads along the edge of the forest with views across the reed to Raderach, whose location is reminiscent of Italian mountain villages. Behind it, you can see the mountains of the Bregenzerwald in the distance.
