Historischer Stadtrundgang

Imperial city, monastery, royal residence and industrial site - even though the war has left its mark, there are still one or two buildings and monuments that point to the city's past.

In the course of the rapid urban development since the 19th century and due to the numerous destructions during the Second World War, most of the historically interesting buildings and sites in Friedrichshafen have been lost. The 3 km long historical history trail, signposted with 50 information boards, runs from the harbor station to the castle church along the lakeshore, via the old cemetery to the city train station and offers a look "behind the facades" of a former imperial city, residence and traditional industrial city.
The "historical city tour" describes an attractive route that will surprise many a local who thought they knew their city. But it also gives visitors from out of town the opportunity to explore our city in a reasonable amount of time and take a look "behind the façade" of a former imperial city, royal seat and traditional industrial city.

Since 1996, citizens of the city have been involved in this project to document historically interesting buildings and locations in Friedrichshafen with the aim of gradually highlighting them at their original location with explanatory panels. In the meantime, 50 plaques have been created and installed; in addition to the city center, some plaques also include the closer districts from Löwental to Fischbach.
