Odenwald-Madonnen-Radweg: Etappe 2

Stage 2 of the Odenwald Madonna Cycle Trail leads around 40 km from Buchen to Mosbach.

Stage 2 of the Odenwald Madonna Cycle Trail starts in Buchen. The first few kilometers of this stage are still easy to manage, but then you have to pedal hard and / or start the motor of your e-bike, because you are heading up to the heights of the Odenwald. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy the view and relax as you cycle to Mudau. Located in the heart of the UNESCO Bergstrasse-Odenwald Geo-Nature Park, Mudau is an ideal starting point for excursions into nature.

From Mudau, you can follow the so-called "Wanderbahn". The "Odenwaldexpress", a narrow-gauge railroad, used to run along the former railroad line to Mosbach. The highlight of the hiking train is the original steam locomotive that can be admired in Mudau.

The route continues gently downhill through small Odenwald villages such as Limbach and Fahrenbach towards Mosbach. Due to the topography, this section is particularly suitable for families. Along the way, it is worth making a detour every now and then to the remains from Roman times; almost 2000 years ago, the Odenwald Limes ran here.

You reach the stage destination Mosbach via Lohrbach, a suburb of Mosbach. In Mosbach, the cycle path first leads along the Elz through the former site of the State Garden Show until you reach Mosbach town center.
