Wine, forest, water, hiking
The hike around Niedernhall cannot be described more aptly than with these four W-words! Viticulture is almost as old as the town (town charter since 1356). Evidence of this is the wine press with its huge cantilevered roof, planned and built by Abbot Knittel, the important Schöntal abbot. It was used by the former winegrowers' cooperative to process the grapes. Sun-drenched steep slopes with their mineral-rich shell limestone soils give the wine its typical varietal taste. The mild climate allows an impressive variety of excellent wines to mature on an area of just under 40 hectares, which are known and loved far beyond the country's borders.
The municipal area is densely wooded. Almost 60% of the area is forest
are forests, predominantly beech forests suited to the location on the heights above the
the Kocher valley. A wonderful hiking area in the hot summer months.
Water is not only available in the Kocher, the Forellenbach and the Zimmerbach. It
refreshes the hiker's feet - but true relaxation for men and women
and women in the brine bath!
Even before the turn of the 19th century
salt was extracted here from wells up to 290 meters deep. The salt,
which for a long time shaped the history of the town, today characterizes
the bathing culture. The salt water from underground feeds the baths.
It is extremely enjoyable, but above all very
health-promoting, is the Niedernhall brine bath. The heated brine in
the 3 pools with an average water depth of 1.35 m is enriched with
enriched with valuable minerals. Bathers know the
the beneficial effects of the bath, e.g. for intervertebral disc and spinal
spinal problems, rheumatism and gout, diseases of the respiratory tract
respiratory tract and respiratory organs, for general weakness or simply
to promote well-being. To round off the health treatment,
there is a massage practice and a sauna in the brine bath.
Yes, you can hike here, where the beautiful surroundings are inviting, where you can loll your tired limbs in brine water after a hike and then enjoy a quarter of the "Niederhaller Distelfink" can!
