Description by the author

Discover unusual gems

The cycle tour leads directly into the Erlenbach nature and landscape conservation area. There you can experience a variety of plants and animals. The side valleys of the Jagst have the greatest diversity of bird species. This untouched nature with its flora and fauna is particularly attractive.Vine growing in Bieringen along the route has a long tradition. The vines on Bieringer Schlüsselberg grow on shell limestone soils. Oberkessach first appeared in documents in 976. Worth seeing is the old rectory from 1609 with beautiful half-timbering, built by Abbot Theo I of Schöntal. In front of it, the village square has been redesigned and invites you to linger.

The Kessach is an approx. 24 km long stream that rises in the eastern Bauland and flows into the Jagst in Widdern. This idyllic stream meanders through Oberkessach and characterizes the townscape. The Grünkernradweg cycle path also leads past this small stream. The Bahrnholz Chapel and the Way of the Cross in Oberkessach are the fulfillment of a vow made by Father Schwarz at the time as thanks for sparing the village at the end of the Second World War. This is the only walkable Way of the Cross in Hohenlohe. To feel the meditative character, you should walk the path.Götz von Berlichingen left his mark in many places, some of which are well preserved, as is the case in Rossach. The residential house and farm buildings date from the 18th century. The gatehouse and the castle complex to the north-east of the estate date from the time of the nobleman von Berlichingen. Around 1,700 years ago, a watchtower of the Limes UNESCO World Heritage Site was located in this area, along the border wall, which formed the borderline to the Germanic tribes over a length of 550 km with around 900 watchtowers and 102 forts.</p
