A path that leads into the distance to views of imperial mountains, to glimpses of chapels and churches such as the pilgrims' church of St. James in Bargau and finally the cathedral in Gmünd
The second stage of the Remstal pilgrimage has its charm with beautiful views of the Ostalb. The paths are mostly paved, with short sections also following roads with little traffic - you have to like that, or you can take your bike for this stage. In Böbingen, the Bürgerpark, which was created in 2019, offers an attraction for families with play areas and water features. This is followed by several spiritual places, including the beautifully situated Beiswang Chapel, St. James' Church in Bargau with a stamp station for pilgrims and the Lourdes Grotto. In between, there are always views of the three imperial mountains: the Staufen, Stuifen and Rechberg, or to the Rosenstein and across the Rems Valley. Schwäbisch Gmünd then offers art-historical highlights: The Heilig-Kreuz-Münster is the oldest hall church in southern Germany from the Gothic period. The Johanniskirche, a late Romanesque pillar basilica dedicated to St. John the Baptist, built between 1220 and 1250, is also a particular gem.
