HochOben Wüstenrot

The municipality of Wüstenrot is located in the middle of the Swabian Franconian Forest Nature Park and is nestled between Lautertal and Brettachtal.

The name Wüstenrot is also known for the first German building society. Georg Kropp founded the "Gemeinschaft der Freunde" association in 1921, which began operating as a building society in 1924. The Bauspar-Museum is located in a former farmhouse from the 18th century, which Georg Kropp lived in with his family from 1920 and where the GdF building society began its work.

The Finsterroter See with kiosk, playground and Dachsi nature adventure trail (used by many pedestrians in good weather - please be considerate) is an excursion destination. Worth seeing is the Wellingtonienplatz with imposing sequoia trees, barbecue area, football pitch, water treading facility and forest nature trail. Nearby: The former silver mine and the "ladder to heaven". The bird of prey enclosure at the sparrow forest with flying shows is open at weekends. The Steinknickle observation tower in Neuhütten offers a magnificent view over the Weinsberg Valley, the Hohenlohe Plain and the Odenwald. Maienfels Castle dates back to the 13th century and is privately owned by the von Gemmingen family. The castle courtyard can be visited when the gate is open.This tour is part of an MTB tour concept in the district of Heilbronn and includes an attractive proportion of single trails.
