Get to know the Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried during a short hike and walk through the history of peat extraction, traces of which are still visible in the form of peat dredging lakes, for example.
A short circular hike through the middle of the peat dredging lake landscape. For around 150 years, until 1996, this was the center of industrial peat extraction. There are peat pits in all stages of silting up - from large open water areas to completely silted up extraction areas overgrown with swamp forest. The route continues through the Ried, which is characterized by agricultural use: a wide, open meadow landscape. Today, large areas of it are grazed all year round by robust cattle breeds. This circular trail leads along the pastures of the Pinzgau cattle, which ensure a structurally rich, open pasture landscape here in the service of nature conservation.</p
