Pfrunger Höhenwanderung

Idyllic and varied hike over the elevations of the vacation region - formed by the Ice Age - with some wonderful views.

The hiking route starts at the parking lot of the vacation village in Pfrungen. The Café Riedblick is located right next to the parking lot (closed on Tuesdays). The first great view of the Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried can be seen from here. At the café, turn right uphill past the Pfrungen vacation village - initially through a dense coniferous forest, which then turns into an almost wildly romantic mixed forest. After a few hundred meters, you suddenly find yourself in front of the Barthelwald Chapel of St. Christopher, completed in 2019, which invites you to take a short break and underlines the tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle. The route continues past the secluded Buhhof campsite, which is close to nature, to the memorial stone above the municipality of Illmensee. The Ulrika Pilgrimage Trail, which leads to Lake Constance, has recently been added to this section of the route. The next beautiful view can be seen from up here - this time with a view of Lake Illmensee. An asphalted road takes you to the Birkhof. Passing fields, meadows and farmland, you have to decide up here whether you prefer to look towards the Pfrunger-Burgweiler Ried or the Höchsten. At the Birkhof farm, turn left and pass beautiful fruit trees before returning to the forest, which repeatedly offers views across the valley. Above the Duellihof farm, the route climbs again into and through the forest to the starting point at the vacation village in Pfrungen.We recommend sturdy shoes, something to drink on the way and sun protection (although the tour offers many shady paths)
