Rhine Cycle Route - EuroVelo 15 - from Constance to Mannheim

For over 2000 years, the Rhine has been promoting cultural and economic dialogue between the Alpine region and Northern Europe. Discover the beauty of this river landscape and the picturesque towns and villages along its banks.From the natural jewel of Lake Constance, flanked by the surrounding gentle hilly landscape, to Basel, the cultural center of the tri-border region of Switzerland, France, and Germany, the journey along EuroVelo 15 runs from east to west and then further north. The southern bank of the Rhine is Switzerland and the northern bank is the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The route passes through Schaffhausen with its famous waterfall - the largest in Europe - and the many picturesque towns and villages in Germany and Switzerland.Coming from the Swiss border, the Rhine forms the border river between France and Germany. Along almost 200 kilometers, the Rhine Cycle Path follows the two banks along nature reserves and hydroelectric power plants, picturesque villages, and Strasbourg - one of Europes capitals - before flowing into the German city of Karlsruhe. On the French side, the route is dotted with a lock and typical Alsatian villages with characteristic churches. On the German side, EuroVelo 15 passes through the Markgräfler Land, a well-known wine-growing region, and Rastatt, a city with magnificent Baroque monuments, before continuing on to Mannheim.
