Badischer Weinradweg - Variante zu Etappe 2: Freiburg/Glottertal

Schallstadt - Riegel

This variant of the Baden Wine Cycle Route leads around 43 km through the flair of Freiburg and the famous Glottertal valley.

From Schallstadt, the route takes cyclists through the wine-growing district of St. Georgen to Freiburg's old town, where they can enjoy a particularly good meal on Münsterplatz at the Alte Wache (vinotheque).

After regaining your strength, head north out of the city to Glottertal, where you can explore the famous "Roter Bur" vineyard with a detour into the valley.

The route continues to the wine village of Buchholz with the steep Sonnhalde vineyard. Here, 3 wineries and the winegrowers' cooperative tempt you to stop for a bite to eat.

From the Buchholz vineyard, you have a view of the impressive Hochburg ruins. The route then continues via Sexau to the old town of Emmendingen.

After this, the variant rejoins the main route in Malterdingen.
