Under the motto "Take advantage of the momentum of the low mountain range", the Southern Black Forest Cycle Path offers all enthusiastic touring cyclists a delightful round trip - with almost no elevation gain.

Our lively ride around the Southern Black Forest Nature Park starts in Hinterzarten, at 885 m above sea level. From here, we cycle leisurely downhill past the mountains and moors of the Upper Black Forest, the Ice Age relic Titisee and the impressive Wutach Gorge. Rustic Black Forest farms or a ride on the famous Sauschwänzle Railway invite you to linger.Continue along the High Rhine. Medieval towns on the German and Swiss banks of the Rhine are waiting to be explored. We continue over the scenic Dinkelberg.

Alternatively, you can also choose the option via Basel.

The idyllic Markgräflerland region with its vineyards and spa towns now awaits discovery; until finally the Mediterranean flair of Freiburg's old town welcomes us for a coffee break.

Following the course of the Dreisam river, the cycle path takes us to Himmelreich station, from where we take the train through the wild and romantic Höllental valley up to the starting point of the tour in Hinterzarten.

The route is mostly on traffic-free cycle paths or quiet country roads, but there are also short sections on roads with moderate traffic. Proportion of surface: approx. 90% asphalt, 10% gravel surface that is easy to cycle on
