Traumschleife Waldzeit

On the Traumschleife Waldzeit, the name says it all: dreamy forest passages, wildly romantic paths and shady spots to linger - all of which characterize this premium hiking trail. The hiking experience is rounded off by scenic and cultural-historical highlights along the way, such as forest chapels, the viewing tower on the Krickelsberg, the forest lake or the open-air stage.

From the starting point at the sports center in Hülzweiler, the trail leads past the forest chapel through the beautiful Schwalbach Forest. The area is characterized by mining and so you will find relics of this time again and again within striking distance of the trail, such as the "Neyschacht" built in 1936. As you continue towards Krickelsberg, you can enjoy views towards Elm and stroll through an enchanted avenue in the forest. The Krickelsberg tower rewards you with sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.In the extensive forest area around the Krickelsberg, you hike along charming paths for a while before reaching the next highlight of the trail, the "Dreibannstein", which was built in 1757. Here you are at the intersection of the former borders of Lorraine, the immediate imperial ban and the county of Nassau-Saarbrücken.

A short time later, the Kneipp facility "Auf Schwarscht" invites you to take a relaxing break and tread water. Passing the Schoenstatt chapel on the outskirts of Hülzweiler, the route then heads towards Waldsee, a real gem in the municipality of Schwalbach. Not far away is the Hülzweiler open-air stage, one of the largest of its kind in south-west Germany. With a bit of luck, you might be able to attend a play or concert here. Or you can simply enjoy a picnic in the audience area with an incomparable panoramic view of the stage. There's no better way to end a hike.The trail has been awarded 63 experience points by the German Hiking Institute.
