Lebacher Runde

There are two reasons why Lebach is also known as the "Green Center". Firstly, because you are in the heavily wooded Saar-Nahe mountain region and secondly, because the official geographical center of the Saarland is located in the town of Lebach.

A real attraction is the Asian Garden on the banks of the River Theel in Lebach. It is 2400 m² in size, has a 276 m² pond and a 76-meter-long watercourse. The pagoda, which is accessed via three bridges, forms the center of a garden planted with bamboo, pine, winter cherry, weeping willow, peonies and chrysanthemums. And none of this was created by chance. Be it the cardinal points, elements from Taoist philosophy, the Chinese theory of harmony or the principles of Jing and Jang - the attentive visitor will find plenty of Far Eastern ideas. A true place of peace and relaxation. Cyclist's heart, what more could you want!

But enough of resting and back on the bike! Because there's plenty of variety along the way. Mining tunnels and mining relics in the villages along the routes bear witness to the former industry of the inhabitants. In the meantime, agriculture has established itself. We cycle between fields and through forests and reach the southernmost point of the tour in the so-called Frauenwald near Schwarzenholz. The history engraved in numerous boundary stones along the way bears witness to the territorial fragmentation of the entire district of Saarlouis before the French Revolution. Twelve dominions were represented here, including Saarwellingen and Schwarzenholz. Looking at historical boundary stones therefore means leafing through a stony history book.
