Traumschleife Wehinger Viezpfad

On the heights of the Saargau region above Wehingen, the route follows the slopes of the Kewelsberg through a sea of green limestone. The Krewelsberg offers sweeping views of the Black Forest and the Merzig basin. After the descent, old orchards, unspoilt stream valleys with bubbling clear streams and hollow paths in extensive wooded areas follow.

Just behind Wehingen, the trail climbs across meadows with old orchards on the slopes of the Kewelsberg. A bench offers views of the Merzig basin and the ridges of the Black Forest uplands.The subsequent descent leads through a sea of limestones in all different sizes. Every single stone and rock is covered in a thick carpet of moss. Hedges, undergrowth and trees are also covered in moss. The path winds its way through the primeval forest along the slope in countless bends and loops, sometimes uphill, sometimes downhill.Below the Wehinger cemetery is the Semmerhütte with outdoor seating and a "Viez filling station". There is a vending machine for Viez and other drinks. However, the "filling station" is closed when there is a risk of frost.Later on, the trail leads through a large wooded area. The valley of the Bonnersbach stream is hiked to, as well as a fire pond in the middle of the forest and the "Rehchenskopf" viewpoint.

The trail leads back to Wehingen via field, meadow and forest sections and a few uphill sections.

The trail has been awarded 78 points by the German Hiking Institute.</p
