Description by the author

A challenging, very varied tour of approx. 70 km in length and approx. 430 meters in altitude with wonderful views over the cultivated landscape with its orchards, forests, ponds and valleys. After a stop in the baroque town of Blieskastel, the last section of the route leads through the lowlands of the Bliesauen and the Würzbach valley. This idyllic forest and meadow landscape rounds off the "garden-rich" tour.

Characteristic of this circular tour are the four enchanted "gardens with history", which are waiting to be discovered.

Start at the train station in St. Ingbert and head straight uphill towards St. Ingbert-Sengscheid. The route follows the "Saar-Nahe-Höhenradweg" through the forest to Blieskastel-Seelbach and on to Blieskastel-Assweiler, to the first "garden with history" - the Bagatelle Assweiler. The tour leads over the heights of the Bliesgau biosphere and continues via Erfweiler-Ehlingen in the beautiful Mandelbach valley to Wittersheim. The "Tuscany of the Saarland" awaits cyclists there, as the area has a truly Mediterranean climate in the summer months. In the middle of nature is the cultural landscape center Haus Lochfeld with one of the "gardens with history". The garden is freely accessible and nature lovers can experience an interesting app-based listening tour. The tour continues towards the French border. Once there, the third "garden with history" is revealed - the Bliesbruck-Reinheim European Cultural Park. The excavations uncovered a small Gallo-Roman settlement as well as a Roman villa. Although not yet documented by finds, it certainly once included ornamental and kitchen gardens. The last section of the tour leads along the well-known Glan-Blies cycle path to Blieskastel-Mimbach. There you will find the last enchanted "garden with history" - the Mimbach biosphere garden. Somewhat hidden by the Protestant village church, the small garden invites you to linger a while. The tour finally ends back at St. Ingbert station via Blieskastel-Lautzkirchen and Niederwürzbach as well as the idyllic Würzbach valley.
