A tour where you can find shade on quiet forest paths even on hot days. You follow the Limes, walking along root paths down into the valley and up into the heights - but views are rare - a tour for people who love quiet paths and are not afraid of ups and downs. Soon after Lorch, you join the HW6 Limes hiking trail, pass the foundations of a watchtower and soon leave the Roman border wall again to descend into the valley. Then the first real ascent has to be made at around the halfway point of the 20-kilometre tour to bypass the 499-metre-high Hohberkopf on pleasant forest paths. The route follows the HW 10, which is left above Plüderhausen to cross the Rems valley here. This somewhat unattractive crossing is compensated for by the next section, as you re-enter the forest immediately after the main road and follow a beautiful narrow path to the Dragonerhütte: a good place to rest with tables and benches. From now on it's downhill, forest is followed by meadows and asphalt instead of paths - no wonder, you're heading towards your destination, the town of Schorndorf with its castle, market square and churches, which is well worth seeing.
