EP3 - Rund um den Ottilienberg kleine Runde

On this family-friendly hiking route, you can enjoy wonderful views such as the Essigbergblick and the Kraichgaublick after climbing the Himmelsleiter (ladder to heaven) The short loop starts at Villa Waldeck at the hiking park and leads past a fitness trail and towards the Eppinger Line. This was built in 1695/97 by the "Türkenlouis" Margrave Wilhelm von Baden for protection against the French.
The path continues to a moat and rampart complex on the north-eastern edge of the Hornbuckel. This was built at the end of the 17th century as part of the construction of the Eppinger Lines. The Himmelsleiter is a climb in the Eppingen forest with 202 steps, starting from the Philosophenweg and ending at the Baumannshütte.
After half of the route, you have a beautiful view at the Kraichgaublick. You can also see beautiful landscapes along the way. These include the Essigbergblick, among others. At the end of the hike, you can stop off at Villa Waldeck.
