Cycling tour through the gardens. The only alluvial national park in Germany can be explored in a relaxed way via the Oder-Neiße cycle path. At the Uckermärkische Bühnen in Schwedt, the Hugenottenpark and the Odertalbühne invite you to the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt during the open-air season. But not only the Huguenots have left their mark here - landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné worked in Zützen and Criewen and has also left his design marks elsewhere in the Uckermark.Start/Finish: Schwedt/Oder Train StationArrival/Departure: Public Transport: from Berlin Hauptbahnhof with Regional Express RE3 to Schwedt (Oder)Car: from Berlin via the A11 motorway to Angermünde, further via the B198 federal road to Angermünde and then via the B2 to Schwedt (Oder), Parking: Oderstraße car parkRoute: Schwedt Train Station, Berlischky Pavilion, Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt, Hugenottenpark, Bollwerk, Criewen, Zützen, Schwedt Train StationDirections: This tour of the various parks and gardens in Schwedt is best explored by bicycle. We start at Schwedt (Oder) Train Station and first walk along Bahnhofstraße towards the city center. Shortly afterwards, you reach the Berlischky Pavilion. The brick building was built from 1776 to 1779 according to the design by Georg Wilhelm Berlischky. Today, the pavilion is used for events, concerts, and as a registry office. More about the history can be learned on a guided tour. From here, the linden avenue leads us directly to the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt. From afar, you can already see the facade art on the stage tower. The redesign was the result of a German-Polish workshop with German and Polish artists. The theater plays large classics, turbulent comedies, and entertaining revues all year round. Additionally, you can experience concerts, operettas, operas, entertainment stars, and much more on the various stages. A special highlight is the Odertal Festival. From May to September, it offers an entertaining and varied program in a romantic natural setting directly on the banks of the Old Oder at the Odertalbühne. Surrounding the building is the Hugenottenpark. Once located at the site of the Uckermärkische Bühnen Schwedt was the three-wing complex of the Schwedter Stadtschloss with the castle garden as a margravial residence. After its destruction in World War II, it was only sporadically rebuilt until the Uckermärkische Bühnen took over the project work to design the former castle garden in 1999. The path leads us further along the Bollwerk of the Hohensaaten-Friedrichsthaler-Wasserstraße towards Kiez. Here you can rent bicycles at Bodo Butzkes bicycle center. The Oder-Neiße cycle path then leads directly to Criewen and into the Lower Oder Valley National Park. The former manor farm Criewen houses the National Park Center of Germanys only alluvial national park. The exhibition vividly informs about the nature in the Lower Oder Valley. Admission is free. From Lenné Park, you can reach the Parkgarten Criewen. On the grounds of the former castle nursery of the Bernd von Arnim family, visitors can discover an orchard with historical apple varieties and Pomeranian landscapes. There is a wildflower meadow, a historic ice cellar, and a vine greenhouse. The nonprofit association Parkgarten e.V. cultivates regionally typical crops, presses organic apple juice Criewener Gold, and annually invites visitors to festivals. If you are interested in special private gardens, you should visit the Uckermark when the Open Gardens Uckermark open their doors to interested visitors again. The changing dates take place twice a year – in June and September. Then you can wander through the open gardens again, gather ideas, exchange plants, or simply admire what can be done with the different garden situations. This includes, among others, in Criewen the garden at the parsonage of Criewen by the Ehrlich family and the garden of Maren Neumuth and Jörg Freese. In Zützen, during the Open Gardens, you can visit the garden of Doreen Weiske and the Lenné Park. Tip: Some gardens, green spaces, and nurseries also open for special occasions or special dates.
