Turm-Rundweg Durchhausen

Hike up one of the Baar's witness mountains - the Hohenlupfen, with its striking lookout tower.

Visible from afar, the "Lupfen" or "Hohenlupfen" stands as a cone in the landscape of the eastern Baar between Talheim and Durchhausen. As the highest mountain in the Baar region, its tower at the summit reaches almost 1000 meters above sea level and is therefore often referred to as the "King of the Baar". As a "witness mountain", it forms impressive landmarks in the landscape together with the neighboring "Hohenkarpfen". The 22.5-metre-high wooden Lupfen Tower, which belongs to and is maintained by the Swabian Alb Association, is open all year round and offers a unique panoramic view of the Baar from its viewing platform, as well as good views of the neighbouring landscapes such as the Black Forest, the Neckar Valley near Rott-weil and the western Alb ridge with the Lemberg, Klippeneck and Dreifaltigkeitsberg. In foehn weather, you can even see the Alps in the distance.
