Waltersholz-Rundweg

Hike through undiscovered countryside around Aldingen-AixheimAn idyllic hiking tour is offered on the "Waltersholz-Rundweg" near Aixheim at the eastern end of the Baar on the edge of the Swabian Alb. It is precisely these landscapes that give the lovingly created local circular hiking trail its character. Starting at the "Lindengasse" hiking parking lot on the outskirts of Aixheim (in the direction of the sports grounds), you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Alb mountain range on the plateau. The trail then descends across meadows down into the valley into a typical forest of the region, which is criss-crossed by small streams.
Just a few meters after the hiking parking lot, you will pass the idyllic and almost secluded club hut of the Aixheim branch of the Swabian Alb Association. The small area invites you to take a break with its barbecue and playground, and you may even feel like coming back here at the end of the hike from the parking lot to rest and have a barbecue.
This trail is a real insider's tip with its two further rest and barbecue opportunities along the way in the idyllic landscape between Aixheim and Trossingen, with the Hagenbach stream as well as culturally and historically interesting evidence in the landscape such as the remains of the medieval castle ruins on the mountain spur of the "Schlösslebühl" and the remains of a Celtic square enclosure.
This easy and relaxing local circular walk is emblematic of the decades of voluntary work and maintenance of hiking trails by the Swabian Alb Association here in the Heuberg-Baar district. The trail offers a well-chosen loop whose layout and course reflect the Albverein members' special knowledge and expertise of the treasures of the local landscape as well as their many years of experience with the needs of hikers and those seeking relaxation.
