Barendorf is mentioned as early as the 9th century. But it is also a municipality with celebrity status. The name of the village comes from the river Neetze, after which the Neetzer water mill and the Wennekather mill in the tributary of the Mausetal stream are driven. It was first mentioned in 1327.The village of Süttorf is known for being the filming location of the telenovela Rote Rosen (Red Roses). The Flickenstein estate from the series ROTE ROSEN is actually called Krusenhof and is located in this village.A place of historical significance is the natural monument of the calcareous cemented sands in the Holzen district of the municipality of Reinstorf. They were formed about 100,000 years ago by glaciers that transported calcareous till.Hardly any other municipality offers as much variety.
