The North Sea Coast Cycle Route, the German section of the North Sea Cycle Route, runs for about 350 km through Schleswig-Holstein. The route runs along the sea, through the towns of Niebüll, Dagebüll, Husum, St. Peter-Ording, Büsum and Meldorf to Brunsbüttel. From there it continues along the Elbe via Glückstadt and Wedel to Hamburg.
With a length of around 6,000 km, the North Sea Cycle Route is the longest signposted long-distance cycle route in the world. It runs through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Scotland, England, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. In Schleswig-Holstein, the North Sea Coast Cycle Route runs from the Danish border to Hamburg. Incomparable nature experiences await cyclists on their tour through North Frisia and Dithmarschen. Enjoy the beauty of the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park. The North Sea with its ebb and flow, green dikes, grazing sheep, sand dunes and heath landscapes characterize the west coast. The path leads past sandy and grassy beaches, colorful lighthouses and picturesque villages with typical thatched roof houses. Take the opportunity and make an excursion to the islands and Halligen, some of which can be easily circumnavigated by bicycle.
