Viking-Friesian Trail (North Tour)

On a length of 180 km you can follow the traces of the Vikings and Frisians across Schleswig-Holstein, from St. Peter-Ording at the North Sea to Maasholm at the Baltic Sea. The picturesque route leads through river meadows and fjord regions, dreamy villages and charming towns. Along old trade routes, the route leads through a fascinating cultural landscape that was shaped by Vikings and Frisians over thousands of years. Discover the trading posts, historic settlements and megalithic tombs.

Start on the Eiderstedt peninsula. There the route runs from St. Peter-Ording to Tönning. Then the tour continues in the direction of Friedrichstadt. Drive through the charming Eider-Treene-Sorge river landscape on the northern route via Ostenfeld. In Hollingstedt the northern route meets the southern route and you continue to Dannewerk. There you ride north of the Schlei to Maasholm.
