Their history comes to life in the Kellmünz Archaeological Park in the district of Neu-Ulm.
They built their fort "Caelius Mons" around 300 AD on the plateau of the high banks of the Iller. With its massive fortress walls, it was one of the largest border forts of late Roman times.
So allow plenty of time for a visit to the museum tower and a tour of the market town of Kellmünz with its church of St. Martin. The route continues along a former railroad line on the Iller-Roth-Günz cycle path to Babenhausen and through the idyllic Roth valley to the lively shopping town of Illertissen. The last section leads along the tranquil Iller cycle path via the market town of Altenstadt with good refreshment stops back to the starting point.
Start is at 89293 Kellmünz station, Bahnhofstraße 2.
