Description by the author

From Berggasthof Eisenberg, follow a nature trail down to the Christinen spring and continue on beautiful forest and meadow paths to a forest meadow with the Schücking monument and a rest area. A prehistoric burial mound is one of the cultural monuments on the archaeological hiking trail, which also runs here. We follow the "Hersfelder Doppelkreuz" signpost to the Liesburg hut and enjoy the beautiful view of the Aula Valley. We continue over the Totenkuppe to the refuge at the Kreuzeichene. Here you are close to the A7 highway, between the Kirchheimer Kreuz junction and the Bad Hersfeld West/Neuenstein exit. The Eisenberg-Steig trail runs close to the highway here until it leads through a narrow underpass to the other side. The next destination is the Stellerskuppe, a former quarry, where we pass the memorial stone of the former viewing tower and turn right up to the summit (491m) with the remains of the foundations. The trail continues through beautiful mixed forest to the paddocks of the Hählgans farm. We now approach the town of Bad Hersfeld on forest tracks and narrow paths. The Freudensteinshütte is a good place to take a break before the hiking trail leads through the Falkenblick residential area via the main cemetery to the (bus) station.
