Durchs Lange Feld zur Ostheimer Hute

This marked nature park circular trail leads from the "Kirschenplantage" hiking parking lot through the Hofgeismar city forest. It starts off through a mixed forest with beech, birch, spruce and other tree species. The path leads along well-maintained gravel paths to the Ostheimer Hute, a nature reserve with a large number of junipers. From here, you can enjoy a wonderful view down into the Diemel valley. The juniper berries are harvested on the Ostheimer Hute and processed into regional gin at St. Albert's Distillery in Haueda. A short detour across the calcareous grassland through the juniper bushes is highly recommended and makes a nice change before heading back to Hofgeismar through the young beech forest. Shortly before reaching the hiking parking lot, you will pass the Karl Wagner Hut, which can be used again as an ideal picnic spot.
