Zum Naturdenkmal Rosenberg

On this circular hiking trail, you can enjoy nature to the full in the south-western tip of the Reinhardswald Nature Park. You can see the impressive rock face on the Rosenberg from afar: The former basalt quarry offers insights into the rock type tuff, i.e. volcanic, solidified igneous rock. The Rosenberg is now a natural monument. An information stele on site provides further information about the history of the monument. Further along the path, you come to a huge forest meadow. The so-called Messhagen was a training ground for the Hofgeismar cavalry regiment in the second half of the 19th century; today the meadow is a nature reserve. Several benches invite you to linger and enjoy.
