This tour combines sections of the H6 and H5 extra tours of the Habichtswaldsteig into a one-day tour.
On extra tour H6, it connects a Chattian settlement on Altenburg Castle with the ruins of Falkenstein Castle. The first of two Mittelgebirgsstürmer stamps can be collected here. In Elmshagen, a "Schnuddelplatz" invites you to take a short break. The extra tour H5 Im Bann der Chatten is reached around the Steinberg, which leads up to the Niedensteiner Kopf with the Hessenturm.
The Hessenturm is open from Easter to the end of October and is run by members of the Niedensteiner Heimat- und Gebirgsverein (Niedenstein local history and mountain club), so you can plan an extensive rest in addition to the climb up the tower.
From Niedensteiner Kopf, the route then takes a leisurely descent on the H5 extra tour to the end of the tour at the bus stop "Vor dem Neuhaus".
Various information boards about sagas and legends from days gone by enrich the tour.
