Description by the author

Enchanting valleys, mountains with magnificent views and forests full of character define the character of this tour. After the start in Mernes, you need to mobilize your strength to tackle the climb up the Stackenberg. A unique heath landscape and a fantastic view of the Jossa valley are the reward for the climb. On a clear day, you can see the Wasserkuppe and the Kreuzberg in the Rhön in the distance. The tour leads to the "Drei Marksteinen" on a high-level trail along the Hessian-Bavarian border. An open beech forest dominates this section of the trail before descending to Marjoß on a forest road and then a forest path. Crossing Marjoß, the tour continues into the Rohrbach valley. On the left-hand side, the route now climbs steadily and gently along the Rohrbach. Here you can observe the activities of the Bieber in the beautiful Rohrbach valley. Accompanied by changing forest scenery, past hunters' graves, the forest releases the mountain biker again at the Alsberg golf course. As a reward, you are rewarded with a fantastic view over the Kinzig valley. From this point onwards, the Donkey Trail accompanies the tour with its trail structure and route. The Donkey Trail is a long-distance hiking trail through the Spessart. It takes its name from the donkey caravans in the Middle Ages, which brought salt from the salt works in Bad Orb and Fulda to Miltenberg for embarkation. For ambitious mountain bikers, the Donkey Trail from Schlüchtern to Klein-Heubach (approx. 112 km) is a great mountain bike tour. At the intersection of the Donkey Trail and the Spessartbogen, you leave the latter and follow a forestry road to Mernes. After leaving the forest behind, the route leads over a meadow path into an old hollow path. This descent is somewhat inconspicuous at first, but it is more demanding for mountain bikers. If this is too boring for you, you can integrate one or two ramps into the descent, which are located at the edge of the path. At the end of the hollow path, you can catch another glimpse of Mernes and the Jossa Valley before returning to the starting point of the tour
