The cycle route is a good 85 kilometers long and is signposted on both sides along the Büdingen - Gelnhausen - Bad Orb - Lohr a.Main axis, where traces of the Middle Ages are still omnipresent in many places today.
The route begins at Büdingen railroad station. From there, it leads through the Jerusalem Gate into the medieval old town of Büdingen. It continues with only short climbs via the historic settlement of Herrnhaag to Ronneburg Castle, which towers above the landscape. Via Mittelgründau and Lieblos, you reach the Staufer town of Gelnhausen. Here you can take a detour to the historic old town with St. Mary's Church. The route continues through the Kinzig valley and then to Bad Orb. In the historic old town, you will find, among other things, the smallest half-timbered house in Hesse. After a long climb past the spa gardens and wildlife park, you reach the golf course and then the Beilstein above Lettgenbrunn. The route follows the small river Jossa and, after a long climb, you reach the highest point of the route shortly before Flörsbachtal. It goes downhill again and through Flörsbach and Kempfenbrunn. The route continues across the Hessian-Bavarian border to Frammersbach, past Partenstein with the Bartenstein castle ruins to the end point in Lohr a. M. with its fairytale old town and the River Main. In Lohr, you have the option of taking the train back.
In Bad Orb and Lohr, there are short passages where the bike has to be pushed.
The route, which runs on asphalt passages as well as in wooded areas, is only recommended for sporty cyclists as a day stage and is particularly suitable as an e-bike tour. A mountain bike is recommended. There are connections to other cycle paths in some places.</p
