The Spessart trail starts at the "Altenmarkskopf" parking lot in the immediate vicinity of the culturally and historically interesting Trages farm. The forest hiking trail leads north around the eponymous "Altenmarkskopf", which is 268.9 m high, crosses the Bavarian-Hessian border and leads through the Erlenbruch to the Michelbacher Wanderheim, where you can stop for refreshments. Via the "Rodenbacher Weg", the Spessart trail leads slowly uphill to the state border and then along forest paths back to the starting point.
The recommended walking direction is anti-clockwise.
