Spessart-Nord-Ost-Passage

This 100 km long circular tour in the north-east of the Spessart connects the valleys of the Lohr, Jossa, Sinn and Main rivers.

The word "passage" indicates that a convenient connection was chosen for this route, which links the four valleys with a relatively easy pass crossing.

The tour also offers picturesque little towns, quaint villages and unspoiled Spessart countryside.

The tour is signposted throughout with destination and distance signposts. It starts at the junction with the Main Cycle Path in Lohr-Sendelbach. With the destination Kahl am Main, you cycle into the old town of Lohr and then further up into the Lohr valley. At the junction in Partenstrein (BHF), follow the destination Lohrhaupten. The route leads through the floodplains to Frammersbach. From the signpost in the middle of the village of Lohrhaupten, follow the signs for Altengronau for the next 30 km. Now the ascent begins at the top of the pass up to the highest point of the tour on the Birkenhainer Straße. The route then enters the Jossa valley. Pfaffenhausen is the first village in this valley. The route passes through Oberndorf, Burgjoß, Mernes and Marjoß before the Jossa turns east towards Sinn. The villages of Jossa and Altengronau follow. From here, the destination on the signposts is Gemünden. The route follows the Sinntal cycle path and, after Burgsinn and Rieneck, rejoins the Main cycle path in Gemünden, which you follow to the starting point in Lohr.
