Württembergischer Wein-Wanderweg

The Württemberg Wine Trail (WWW) is a long-distance hiking trail of the Swabian Albverein from Aub in Bavarian Franconia to the former imperial city of Esslingen am Neckar. It is approx. 313 km long and leads through the wine landscape of northern Württemberg. With a few additional loops, it can be extended to 470 km, making it the longest German wine trail.

The Württemberg Wine Trail leads through 56 wine-growing communities. Due to its route through vineyards, it has a high proportion of asphalted paths. It can be hiked all year round, although autumn is a popular season for the Württemberg Wine Trail.The trail leads from Aub in Bavarian Franconia through the Tauber Valley to Hohenlohe. It runs through HeilbronnerLand with the wine-growing areas around Weinsberg and Heilbronn. From there, it makes a loop into the Zabergäu and the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park, which is considered optional for the hiking trail. At Wunnenstein, the main route is reached again, which leads via Steinheim an der Murr and Marbach am Neckar into the lower Rems Valley. Via the state capital of Stuttgart, the trail finally leads through vineyards to the former free imperial city of Esslingen.Cozy wine-growing villages and numerous towns that once grew rich through viticulture as well as varied and mostly scenic landscapes lie along the way.

Variant with a loop in the Zabergäu

If you want to extend the route a little further, the Zabergäu offers an ideal opportunity. After Beilstein, a variant of the main trail branches off and leads along the Schleife Zabergäu through Germany's largest red wine landscape before the trail rejoins the main route near Talheim. Unique views of the Zabergäu vineyard landscape and the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park are guaranteed on panoramic paths with plenty of views.
