Neckarweg | Etappe Bad Wimpfen - Neckarsulm

The Bad Wimpfen - Neckarsulm stage offers insights into the history of the White Gold and wonderful viewpoints.

Starting from the Imperial Palace in Bad Wimpfen, the Neckar Trail leads down to the banks of the Neckar. Past the Bad Wimpfen monastery with its impressive knight's abbey church, the route runs largely flat along the water towards Bad Friedrichshall.

Before reaching the 3-river salt town, you can immerse yourself in the history of white gold at the Salinenkanal section. Here, the Neckar Trail follows the Bad Friedrichshall Salt Trail for a good stretch with information boards on the history of salt and brine in the Neckar Valley.

At the end of Bad Friedrichshall, the leisurely climb up to the Neckarsulmer Scheuerberg begins. The Scheuerberg is an ideal resting and viewing point - the view sweeps over the Neckar plain towards the Odenwald or over the wine country towards Heilbronn.

The descent from the Scheuerberg down to Neckarsulm through the vineyards is accompanied by a Way of the Cross.

The Bad Wimpfen - Neckarsulm section of the Neckarweg is mainly on asphalt (vineyard) paths. In the Bad Friedrichshall section along the Saline Canal with fine gravel.

S-Bahn hike & shortcuts

In Bad Wimpfen, the Neckarweg runs directly past the train station.

In Neckarsulm, the Neckarweg leads through Sulmpark near the town center. From here, it is about 900 m to Neckarsulm train station for the return journey to Bad Wimpfen.

The train station in Bad Friedrichshall-Kochendorf can be used to shorten the approximately 15 km long stage.
