From Walternienburg to Dessau-Roßlau, the Elbe Cycle Path leads through a natural wonder: the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve. The Steckby-Lödderitzer Forest became Germanys first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1979 and formed the nucleus of the River Landscape Elbe, which is now protected across national borders, one of the last natural river floodplains in Central Europe.
The Elbe Cycle Path is marked here with special ground markings (Elbe Cycle Path logo).
