Rickenbach: Hotzenwälder Radtour

The tour leads from Rickenbach to the Hornberg basin and over the heights of the Hotzenwald back to Rickenbach. A very beautiful and scenic tour on mostly quiet country roads.

We should take a little more time for this cycle tour, as there are many sights and great views along the way. Before we really get going, we should take some time to visit the parish church in Rickenbach. The choir painting and the artistically designed windows were created by Prof. Email Wachter from Karlsruhe.

From Bergalingen to the gliding airfield in Hütten-Rüttehof, we always have great views of the Rhine Valley, the Vosges mountains and the Swiss Alps. At the glider airfield, we can watch the planes take off into the Hotzenwald sky and float away with them above the clouds. In the Fliegerklause you have the opportunity to enjoy Hotzenwald hospitality. The tour continues to the Hornberg basin. A perfect viewpoint which, in good weather, offers great views over the Black Forest, the Vosges mountains, the Swiss Alps and the surrounding regions.

On the route to Schlagsäge, we pass through a varied natural landscape with species-rich meadows and shady forest. A detour to the Energy Museum in Hottingen is well worthwhile. This is primarily dedicated to energy generation through hydropower. Even if its doors are closed, there are numerous exhibits outside. And the Murg invites us to simply relax and unwind here.

Now we slowly drive back to our starting point in Rickenbach. And maybe we'll feel like stopping for a bite to eat to replenish our lost energy.</p
