Görwihl: Vogellehrpfad

The nature and bird trail was first restored in 2022 as a joint project between the Black Forest Association and NABU. A jay designed by local artist Peter Schütz now shows visitors young and old the way. The trail leads along a picturesque watercourse and offers lots of interesting facts about the local nature on lovingly designed information boards.

During the hike, we will follow a witch - an artificial watercourse - from the Middle Ages, which was once used to irrigate fields and meadows. The historical significance of the weirs was great, as they enabled people to irrigate their fields and farm. But they also had another purpose. The watercourses supplied the industrial enterprises of the time with sufficient water with their water wheels. Even today, the Wuhren (or Wühren) are part of the cultural landscape of the Hotzenwald, where they run for miles along the slopes.

The NABU bird trail is an ideal destination for families with children. With the informative boards along the trail, our children can learn about nature in a fun way. We playfully learn about different bird species together and discover which animals still live in the Hotzenwald.

All in all, the bird trail is a wonderful way to spend a day in nature and learn something at the same time. The picturesque landscape and the beautiful Wuhre with its gently flowing water make this hike an unforgettable experience. On hot days, we can cool off wonderfully in the water and at the end, the Sägmoos hut with its rustic wooden benches invites us to take a break while the children, who are not yet tired, can run around in a small playground.The trail is only suitable for baby carriages to a limited extent. It is recommended to take small children with you in a carrier.
