Schleswig sneak paths via Idstedt

Good fitness required. The tour may contain loose ground, which is difficult to ride.

The tour starts at Gottorf Castle in Schleswig. Via the palace avenue you reach the zoo. Here you cycle along natural forest paths through the enchanting forest, past babbling brooks and an enchanted pond. Finally, you reach Lürschau. Here you can take a first break at the Arenholz Lake and refresh yourself in the water. There is also a place to stop at the lake. Afterwards, the route leads through the quiet Idstedter Forst. You pass the village of Idstedt and then arrive at the lake of the same name. Here you will find a nice swimming spot on the northwest shore. After rolling south along the shore of the lake, you ride parallel to the Langsee through the idyllic landscape. On the Ochsenweg, a former traffic connection with cattle drives from Denmark to Germany, you circle the Langsee in a large arc. Via Tolk, where you can make a stop at the "Tolk Schau" amusement park, you reach the old circle railway line, on which you cycle comfortably back to Schleswig. At the end of the tour, you can pay a visit to St. Petri Cathedral here and make a detour to Holm, an old fishing quarter at the harbor with lots of gastronomy. Tip: Around Idstedter See, it can happen after rainy days that the paths are quite difficult to ride on.
