Description

The Unstrut flows for 190 km through Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. The Unstrut Cycle Path leads through diverse landscapes such as the Reisersche Valley, the Unstrut Valley nature reserve, and the Saale-Unstrut-Triasland nature park with the Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region.
Marvel at castles, monasteries, churches, parks, water mills, and historic museums. Attractions such as the Nebra Ark, as well as the individual stations of the Romanesque Road and the Garden Dreams, await you.

Closure between Herbsleben and Gebesee
Due to ongoing administrative processes, the section between Herbsleben and Gebesee (5 km) is currently not open for cycling. Increased traffic volume is expected in that area.

The recommended detour leads from Herbsleben via Dachwig to Walschleben. From here, continue on the Gera Cycle Path to Ringleben back to the Unstrut Cycle Path (17 km). An alternative is to continue from Walschleben via Andisleben to Gebesee back to the Unstrut Cycle Path.

Attention: The temporary detour routes are not signposted on-site.

From now on, cycling will be even more exciting, as the curious can now listen to interesting stories about various locations along the cycle path. Route Description

1st Stage: from the Unstrut source to Mühlhausen (25 km)
From Kefferhausen to the Orgelmühle. Continue to Silberhausen and the municipality of Helmsdorf. From there to Zella and Horsmar. Continue to Dachrieden, through Ammern to the Ammerbrücke. Continue to Mühlhausen.
2nd Stage: from Mühlhausen to Bad Langensalza (23 km)
Towards Sondershausen. Past the Görmar Church to Bollstedt. Continue to Altengottern. At the Thamsbrücker Wehr onto the Unstrut Cycle Path to Großwelsbach, from there to Bad Langensalza.
3rd Stage: from Bad Langensalza to Sömmerda (42 km)
From Bad Langensalza to Nägelstedt. Through the Unstrut Valley nature reserve to Großvargula. Then towards Herbsleben. From there to Bad Tennstedt and Gebesee, then to Ringleben. Continue towards Haßleben. Via Werningshausen to Wundersleben and Schallenburg. From there to Sömmerda.
4th Stage: from Sömmerda to Artern (42 km)
Towards Leubingen through Griefstedt. Then to Büchel, from there to Etzleben. Continue towards Gorleben, then to Heldrungen. From there to Bretleben and Reinsdorf. On the Unstrut dam to Artern.
5th Stage: from Artern to Nebra (35 km)
From Artern via Ritteburg and Bottendorf to Roßleben. Crossing the Thuringia - Saxony-Anhalt border. Continue towards Memleben and Nebra.
6th Stage: from Nebra to Naumburg
From Nebra to Karsdorf and Dorndorf. Across the Unstrut Bridge in Laucha to Freyburg. Continue to Großjena and Naumburg-Henne.
