Description

The town church of St. Marien and the listed town hall with its striking covered staircase dominate the city center of Laucha - the starting point of the hike.
Along the old city wall, the path leads past the well-preserved Obertor, the double gate system consists of an outer gate and a gatehouse. Numerous events take place here in the warm season.
On the southwest side of the Unstrut valley are the slopes between Plößnitz and Krawinkel. It is the shady side of the valley, so the slopes are still predominantly wooded. The Borntal has cut deeply here.
The varied path leads to Plößnitz, where the old village church was built from the shell limestone of the former quarries in the area. Some of these old quarries are still visible.
The hike in the valley, in the shady forest with its diverse flora, is unparalleled.
If you have enough time, you should extend the path with a detour to Krawinkel, where a special highlight awaits you: the Orchid Circular Trail.

Tip: The Borntal Circular Trail can be combined with the Ennsberg Circular Trail and connected to the Orchid Path near Krawinkel. In the west, connecting paths to Bad Bibra are available.
