Bicycle tour through the Drömling with Giebelmoor and border region.

Description

During this bicycle tour, the participant gets to know the different faces of the Drömling, from the low moor with alder swamp forest to the cultivable rimpauschen moor dam culture. Along the tour, several observation towers invite you to linger. The German-German border history can also be recalled at various points.

Directions

The bicycle tour starts at the border nature trail near Böckwitz towards Kaiserwinkel on the Lower Saxony side. After the first stations at the Kurt Lichtenstein Cross and the Kaiserwinkel observation tower, continue into the Giebelmoor towards the canal near Rühen. At the canal bridge, half of the tour has already been completed, and there is the possibility to stop at the restaurant by the canal. Now continue a few kilometers along the Mittellandkanal, with a short detour to the observation towers at Breitenrode (Niedermoor Stauberg), to Buchhorst. On the edge of the core zone towards Schwarze Brücke, we pass another observation tower. The return to the starting point is along the former inner-German border on the Saxony-Anhalt side.
