Short descriptionOn this route you cycle along the old salt road through Saxony-Anhalt.DescriptionThe salt road used to connect the saltworks in the area, places where salt mining was carried out and which were also major trading centers.The route connects the Elster Cycle Path at Schkeuditz with the Harz Circular Route at Uftrungen.The Salt Road Cycle Path in Saxony-Anhalt leads through the southern part of the country, from the state border with Saxony on the Elster Cycle Path at Schkeuditz via Merseburg to Lake Geiseltal, via Mücheln, Nebra (Wangen), the site of the Sky Disc, on the Mittelberg and through the Ziegelrodaer Forest: further via Allstedt near Sangerhausen, Tilleda at the Kyffhäuser to Uftrungen at the Harz Circular Route.The Salt Road intersects the Saale Cycle Path in Merseburg, the Unstrut Cycle Path in Karsdorf and Nebra, the Goethe Cycle Path in Weischütz and Burgscheidungen, the Kyffhäuser Circular Route in Tilleda and Kelbra.More information: From the 40th km of the tour, the Salt Road leads approx. 8 km through Mücheln. Initially, it runs from the cycle path through a tunnel that leads under the viaduct to the market, to the marina. Afterwards, you reach the landscape and castle park up to the Geiselquelle towards Albersroda.
