Hermannseck is a recreational area with a campground, animal enclosures, and a restaurant offering selected game specialties. At the starting point in front of the castle garden, you need to make a decision: choose the longer route via Lodersleben with its castle and church, and return via the shorter route through Leimbach or vice versa. The path through Lodersleben takes you through the Ziegelrodaer Forest, the largest contiguous oak forest area in central Germany. Along the Leimbach and the Querfurt spruces, you hike through meadows and fields, enjoying a beautiful panoramic view. In summer, you can cool off at the city pool below the film castle or visit the baroque old town and stop by one of the restaurants.
