A perfect day trip for Stuttgart locals: Get to know the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park on the Fichtenberg-Murrhardt bwegt hiking trail.

Regional and local transport will take you from the greater Stuttgart area or from Schwäbisch Hall directly to Fichtenberg in the Swabian-Franconian Forest, the starting point of our tour. You can find all the information about the route on the bwegt portal board at the station.Just follow the yellow signposts: The route takes you through quiet forests at the start. After the first few kilometers, you will be rewarded with the beautiful view from the hill over the Murrtal valley.

On easy gravel and field paths, you reach the forest lake, which is perfect for swimming and relaxing, and shortly afterwards the village of Fornsbach. If you need a little refreshment for the second half, you should definitely stop at the village bakery. If you don't want to tackle the second half, you can catch the regional train back at the stop shortly afterwards.Following in the footsteps of the Romans, you walk along quiet side roads and forest paths towards Murrhardt: shortly before reaching your destination, the trail climbs up to the Lindersthütte and Maienplatz, from where you can already see your destination. Right at the entrance to Murrhardt is the historic Rümelinsmühle mill, and you can round off your hike in the numerous restaurants and cafés in the town center. The train station, from where we will take you back home, is just a few meters from the town center.
